Terms & Conditions

The Client Agreement Form must be signed and dated for each project.

The client must give clear instructions on what area of research is required and provide us with any previously known details and copies of any relevant documents already in the client’s possession (see Client Agreement Form).

New clients must pay in advance before research is undertaken.  Disbursement costs will be payable on completion and before final submission of documentation.

Returning clients need only pay a small deposit for future research, and the balance will be due upon receipt of our invoice.

Budget:

Clients who have chosen to set their own budget for research services will be kept informed of progress and also when the budget reaches close to its limit, giving you the opportunity to ‘top-up’ or suspend the project.

Refunds:

If during the agreed number of hours commissioned it becomes clear that the project will complete early, any whole unused research hours will be refunded or credited to your next project.

Important:

We reserve the right to decline a project if the only information given in the Client Instructions’ starting point is, for example, “Nellie Jones, born in London around 1840 or 1850”.

Payment:

You can make payments using online banking (contact us for our bank details); PayPal (all major credit and debit cards); cheque; postal order.  Please note that cheques will need to clear before research commences.

Disbursements:

Client approval will be sought before ordering certificates or other chargeable documents.  All disbursements will be charged extra at cost, including images/photographs, postage and packing etc.  Please note we will only charge the current cost rate of £9.25 per GRO Certificate.
